Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art. Thou my best Thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. -CUMC Hymnal pg. 451
The vision of the body of believers, the body of Christ, called Clemmons United Methodist church is to exemplify Ephesians 4:13, to be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Visualize yourself in a car driving down a highway in the left hand lane going the speed limit of 70 miles per hour and you drive into a torrential downpour of a rainstorm. Your ability to see the road, much less the vehicles ahead or behind you is reduced to zero. Where do you go? What do you do? You just can’t stop, that’s trouble for sure!! What do you do? Who do you rely on? The panic sets in. In amongst your thoughts you hear the hymn, BeThou My Vision, coming from the radio. Yes! You remember the story that Christ did calm the storm!! Then you say, “Yes, my faith and trust is in Christ... my vision!” And the calm sets in...... (A true story)
How does this relate to FaithSharing, FaithGrowing, FaithWorks!? Our Lord is calling each and every one He created to walk with Him. We have the opportunity to say yes or no on a daily basis. He knows we each are in various situations, some in the calm and some in the storm. In Psalm 25:8- 10 we see He instructs, leads, and teaches us in His way. In verse 10: all the paths of the LORD are loving kindness and truth to those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. He will give us what we need even when we feel inadequate or are in the storm.
