Summer Fun Camps

This year's Summer Fun Camps focus on the three components of science:  physical science, life science, earth and the environment.  Physical science allows children to explore the physical properties of materials and objects.  For example, during our pond week we may discuss how a tadpole looks different from a frog.  Life science is the care and exploration of living things.  The cactus we grow during the desert week can spark discussion on what this plant needs to grow.  Earth and the environment is the component of science that centers around the world's natural setting. During our rainforest week, we can explore cause and effect of deforestation on the environment.

Preschool Summer Camp

The preschool portion will consist of 6 different rotations:  drama and storytelling, music, art, centers, science, and the discovery room.  The science room is a new addition to our preschool summer program and will host opportunities for the children to explore scientific content.  Daily age appropriate experiments and open ended questioning will lead to discussion and hands-on experience.  Even our youngest toddlers will encounter science first hand as they investigate which pond items will sink or float.  The discovery room allows our children not only to learn about the habitats, but to become part of them.  The rainforest will truly "come alive" when the children walk amongst its vines and canopies and hear the howler monkeys and toucan's cries.

Elementary Summer Camps are available at www.clemmonsumc.org/summercamp

Our Teachers

All lead teachers in our classrooms are encourged to obtain Credentials in Early Childhood Development.  All teachers have CPR/First Aid Certification.  We offer ongoing training to our teachers and the majority of our staff have been here over 5 years.

Curriculum

At CUMP, we offer young children an opportunity to learn and grow with an excellent teaching staff.  Through center-based learning, each child is given the opportunity to grow and develop at his or her own rate.  They learn how to interact with their environment and get along with their peers.  We offer Music, Chapel and other specials outside the classroom.
