Safe Sanctuary

At Clemmons United Methodist Church, we take seriously our moral and legal responsibility to provide a safe environment for children and youth, as well as to support those who work with them, as we seek to proclaim our faith and follow the ministry of Jesus Christ in our world. Because we believe that Jesus taught us to care for His children and youth, we commit our church to the practice of safe supervision through a Safe Sanctuary policy, which sets standards for the supervision of the children, youth, and vulnerable adults in our care. Thus, in covenant with all United Methodist congregations, we adopt Safe Sanctuary policies for the prevention of neglect and abuse.

for those with hearing loss or assisted listening needs

Clemmons UMC’s sanctuary is equipped with a hearing loop system that can transmit sound directly to certain hearing aids or assisted listening devices.

If you wear hearing aids that are equipped with a t-coil you can use them with no need for an additional receiver - just adjust your hearing aids to the “t” setting and you’re ready to listen in the sanctuary during worship or special programs.

All others are welcome to use the assisted listening devices on the table in the narthex (street facing entrance) of the Sanctuary. After picking one up turn the knob clockwise to power on the device and counterclockwise to power it off.

Note that our loop system only works on the main level of the sanctuary, not in the balcony.

Please let and usher or staff member know if you need any assistance or if the device you picked up is not working.

AED Devices

To secure the health and safety of our congregants, staff and visitors, we have three automated external defibrillators (AEDs) located in the following places: the Ministry Center entrance, the Commons area and the Children’s Ministry hallway. Community members are often the first to respond to emergencies. The AED analyzes a heart rhythm and provides its user with step by step vocal instructions. Please watch the training video to learn more about its use of this equipment.
