Sisters in Christ is a group of women of all ages who meet in the Fellowship Hall on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The group has been together since 2002 and does Bible studies from many different Christian authors, each usually 4-6 weeks in length. An important aspect of our group is engagement in service projects for our church, our community, and beyond.  Here are some of the many projects we do:

  • Assembling backpack snack bags with food items for needy children in area schools to take home on the weekend, as well as providing school supplies at the beginning of the school year.

  • Providing meals for individuals, families, our church staff, and Wake Forest Wesley Foundation students.

  • Assisting local care facilities with toiletries for their residents.

  • Maintaining the Medical Supply Closet in the Food Pantry building.

  •  Providing birthday celebration supplies for the children at Crossnore/Children's Home in Winston-Salem.

  • Collecting Upper Room devotionals and other Christian books for assisted living residents.

  • Providing meals for college students working with our local Habitat for Humanity organization.

  • Providing food for men's and women's shelters during the winter months.

  • Supporting Bethel CUMC preschool with I-pads and other school supplies.

  • Supporting the annual CUMC fall bazaar by serving on committees, working the sales areas, helping with set-up and clean-up, and providing baked goods for sale.

  • Providing food and gift cards for local families with children who are in need, especially at Christmas.

  • Paying for CUMC teenagers to attend CCC during the summer.

In addition, Sisters in Christ meet one Wednesday each month during the summer to watch a movie while we work on pillowcase dresses and collect T-shirts to send with our church mission teams who go to foreign countries.

Another important aspect of our group is the fellowship and support that evolves from working together, and sharing our personal thoughts and experiences during these times together.
